Yes you read it right! Thanx to IIT Kanpur Students and Staff Members, we will see the flying cars in the sky soon. IIT Kanpur is one of the top reputed Engineering College of India and is continuously in News for Transport and Aerospace Engineering.
Head of Aerospace Engineering and the Flight Lab, Ajoy Ghosh, at IIT Kanpur said "We will establish proof of concept and identify the key technology areas. There will be over a 100 students working on this in the coming years..”
VTOL Aviation India Pvt Ltd is the name behind this ongoing research, It has funded IIT-Kanpur to make India’s first flying cars, which is basically a Vertical TakeOff and Landing (VTOL) plane. For this VTOL a MoU worth 15 crore has already been signed.
If developed then this VTOL can be used as flying taxis soon. This VTOL will have the ability to take-off, hover and land vertically. While Russia and US have ak-38,V-22 Osprey and Harrier Jump Jet powering lift and rotary action, this VTOL will be India's first of this kind. In future, India might use this VTOL tech in military operations too.
