The best time to look for a job is when you don't need one.

Most of you may agree with the title as soon as read it while some of you may be a little bit confused but believe me when I say the best time to look for something is when you don't need it. I am not saying that one should go and buy sweaters in summer, this is specifically about job hunting and how it worked out for many people.

Few hours back while I was browsing here and there, I got to read an interesting post over a social website. There was this man called Shalock, who had a very good job in a manufacturing unit, he used to love his job, crew was good, a boss that let's him run his department with very little interference, close to home and many other benefits. A long time ago his friend advised him to keep an eye out and not to get too comfortable, so he did. So for last few years he applied for many jobs and listed salary requirement very high knowing that if he didn't get the job, it's still cool as he loved the job he already had.

Recently he received a great offer for a position he has great deal of experience with, and about 60% increase in salary. Facilities are quite similar, interview went quite well with the new boss, however can't say about the new team right now. He is glad that he did this job hunt and is excited for his new position.

His experience is quite an inspiration for everybody so that even if you're happy, keep an eye out, and take a shot at improving your wage bracket. You have nothing to lose by asking for what you want (if you're in a position you're okay with being patient with for a little while). You just might find out someone thinks you're worth it.

These last lines were straight from the author. The comment section was full of such stories, I guess we all should keep an eye out, may be we can do something better, something that will mean more to us.
