Sakhi Malik, if you're an Indian you would have definitely heard this name by now. While hopes of all Indians were drowning, she came to lift Indian flag at Rio Olympics 2016. She made all of us proud, India is now officially in medals tally list.

She won bronze medal in the women wrestling 58kg category after beating Aisuluu Tynybekova 8-5 in the bronze medal bout. It was a thrilling contest, Sakshi fought back from 0-5 down to end the bout 8-5 in her favor. With few seconds left on the clock, she managed to do a three-point move to end the bout and to open India’s account with first medal at Rio 2016 Olympics.Family Background
23 year old Sakhi Malik was born on 3 September 1992, she is from Mokhra Village of Rohtak district (Haryana). Being born in Jat family she was hardworking from childhood. Her father Sukhbir Malik works in Delhi Transport Corporation while her mother is a government worker. Sakhi had interest in wrestling from the age of 12, she joined Ishwar Dahiya's akhada in 2004 to start professional training. In present time, Dahiya's akhada is in Chottu Ram Stadium. Sakhi's parents were very supportive for her interest in this sport, they always knew she will make the nation proud someday.Previous Achievements
In 2010, Sakhi Malik won bronze medal in Wrestling's Junior World Championship. In 2014, Sakhi Malik won gold medal in senior 60Kg Weight category for the nation by beating America's Jennifer Page in Dev Sulaj International Wrestling Tournament. In 2014 Glasgow Common Wealth Games, she won silver medal in 58Kg category. Later in 2015, she won bronze medal at Doha in Senior Asian Wrestling Championship for 60Kg category.
