KING KHAN IS BACK!
Going back to his early acting days, where twisted characters gave him his big break, Bollywood’s king of romance still has what it takes to give you the creeps.
The movie is based upon the obsession of a fan which is beyond any limit. Gaurav Chanana (Shah Rukh Khan) from Inder Nagar, Delhi, who eats, breathes, lives superstar Aryan Khanna (Shah Rukh, again), huge fan of him, they have quite similar face. Everyone in Gaurav's circle know him as a "FAN" of Aryan Khanna and calls him Junior Aryan Khanna.
Sole purpose of Gaurav's life was meeting Aryan Khanna 'AK Senior'. Like a true fan, Gaurav traces Aryan’s journey in Mumbai – he stays at the same hotel, travels without a ticket, but when he finally reaches the star’s house, the boy from Delhi is lost in the sea of other fans like him. After much planning, Gaurav meets Aryan, but the encounter is nothing he expected it to be, Senior AK criticized him for the way he chose just to meet him, their talk ended with a very bad and quite sad note, that's where the conflict arises between two. Gaurav takes advantage of his face and did all what it takes to destroy Senior Ak's stardom.
Role of Gaurav is full of pagalpan, pura sanki. This role is just awesome as the role SRK played in movies like Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam. With his years of practice, SRK aces this role with ease. As a whole, Fan delivers what it promised in the trailers. Shah Rukh is back in his elements after a long time. Must watch it for him, this movie is surely gonna perform great on box office, be a part of its success.
Here's another review by Riddhima:
Inspite of being a movie buff I have never written a "movie review" before, so this review may lack the typical sophistication.
Let's start with the PLOT - A crazy obsessed FAN Gaurav Chandana turns into enemy after meeting his love of life, his God, the superstar Aryan Khana.
CHARACTERS -
Aryan Khana : If you're a SRK fan then you already know everything about him. How he became from a Delhi ka Launda to the biggest star of Bollywood. Lives in a grand house near beach, have a statue at Madame Tussauds, have family - a wife, two kids.
Aryan is basically similar (or say exactly) real life Shah Rukh Khan.
Gaurav Chandana is a middle class Delhi boy who runs a cyber cafe in Inder Vihar Colony. He resembles Aryan to a great extent & worships him. He is naive, his body language is uncultured but when it comes to copying Aryan he's a pro.
His only dream is to meet & hug Aryan.
Gaurav's family & friends - His parents are simple people. Love him unconditionally and supports him in his every decision of life.
Also, he have a "one way" girlfriend, Neha, to whom he couldn't ever express his feelings.
WHY TO WATCH FAN?
1. SRK - Naam hi kaafi hai. And if you're not his fan, you will surely become one after watching it.
2. ACTION - Well obviously not like some superhero movie but very real & engaging. The chases between Aryan & Gaurav are arresting.
3. DRAMA & DIALOGS - Fan is one of the finest performance of SRK especially Gaurav's character. The psychopath will win everyone's heart. Roles played by other actors are undoubtedly flawless. From Gaurav's parents to Aryan's secretory everyone have done a commendable job.
4. DIRECTION & LOCATIONS - Great work by Maneesh Sharma. Be it exotic locations or our very own Delhi/Mumbai, he have captured them all in the best way possible. Editing & cinematography is very well.
5. BACKGROUND SCORE - There's only one soundtrack #JabraFan that too not included in the movie but still the enthralling background score manage to make it up for it.
6. CONNECTION - Everyone at some point of time is star-struck with some celebrity. So you will relate & feel all the emotions.
7. LIFE LESSONS - It will teach you how excess of anything is dangerous. Helps you get over your obsession & move ahead in life to do bigger and greater things.
"Be a fan but not just a fan, have a goal in life, find your own identity, be your parent's loving child, someone's friend, someone's lover."
WHAT'S THERE TO HATE?
The ending. I am not a big fan of sad endings. Walking of out theater with a heavy heart, that's not something I personally I like. May be they could've ended it on a happy note but it would have deprive it of realness. After all life is not a fairytale.
Over all I loved the movie. From the excellent performance of SRK & SRK to an edge-of-the-seat thriller - it's a masterpiece.
