Read this story and decide is he a brother or killer? Is he a human? Story shows the dark side of the society, however bright side exists too where Humanitarian Warriors are serving humanity at its best.
Dr. Patel from a well known hospital of New Delhi (India) shared a heart wrenching story with us.
Few months back, during a critical operation the patient needed 4 units of O-ve blood, as we know it's not a common blood type, unfortunately it was not available at blood bank that time. Patient family was there, his brother(21), sister-in-law(19) and his mother(47). Family was so tensed, i asked them to arrange the blood as soon as possible, contact friends, relatives anyone. Mother said that his elder soon(standing next to him) has O-ve blood type, that boy suddenly said "No it's O+ve, same as you mother". Then they all started calling their friends for help, even i tried and managed to arrange one blood donor but that wasn't enough. Mother was crying in front of me saying "please take all my blood but save his life", unfortunately blood wasn't arranged and the patient died. When I told about his death to his family, his brother started crying loudly and called himself the killer of his brother. At first I thought he is saying all this in shock but then he said his blood type is O-ve and he lied first because he thought blood donation will make him weak and he's also afraid of needles. On hearing this I was too shocked, I was full of anger too, his mother fell down on hearing this, there was complete silence for few minutes, I wanted to say many things but I thought walking away was better option. It was the first time when I saw a patient dying due to lack of blood availability, later I came to know that its quite common in smaller hospitals where poor patients die every week due to this. It's my humble respect to all of you that please donate blood every 3 months, its a healthy thing to do for donor too. This story made me feel downhearted, a life lost which could have been saved easily, easily by his own brother. It's quite disturbing to hear such stories of inhuman acts by so called "educated" people.
